August has been a busier than usual month for us, Reel Lites! If you’ve been along on this ride with us for a while, then you know this month was the final stretch of the Summer Comment Challenge, but you also may have noticed we published more posts than usual during the month. That is all thanks to us also participating in the Blogust Challenge. Two challenges in one month! Yeah, we did that, and we lived to tell about it. Keep reading for the debriefing!
This month we partnered with Lonna at FLYLēf! Yes…she is one of the challenge hosts, and YES, we were totally honored to be her partner! If you are looking for free books and are all about YA, then FLYLēf should be one of your go-to blogs! Lonna hosts giveaways like the August Book of Choice Giveaway. I entered in the hopes of winning Wonder Woman: Warbringer, but the lucky winner was Ann B. She’s also hosting giveaways in September and October, so go enter to win! One of the standout features on FLYLēf is FLYTIP, the bi-weekly meme to share blogging and design tips. This month’s FLYTIPs were an open discussion on bookish blogging and bookstagram love. There’s a couple of days until the next FLYTIP, so…you still have time to share your dos and don’ts for blog post formatting and join the link up party!
Blogging in August
Joining the Blogust Challenge was definitely by happenstance. Danielle at Sweet Frivolity announced the challenge in the Creative Ninjas Nation Facebook Group, and our interest was immediately piqued, but so was our anxiety. Would we be able to post something everyday for 31 days straight?! The short answer is no because we didn’t post everyday. However, we posted more than usual, and that should count for something, right?! Just look at the blog! In addition to the August 2017 edition of When Lit Gets Reel, the Rad American Women book review, and our Top Five Literary Bromances, we celebrated National Book Lovers Day and National Chocolate Chip Cookie Day, tagged ourselves into The Happiness Tag, shared our favorite bookish photographs, and listed some great reads in honor of Labor Day and Mary Shelley’s birthday. If you’re good with the numbers, then you know that’s three times more posts than usual!! We also increased engagement with our fans and followers on social media with more tweets, on the Gram stuntin’, pinnable posts, and shares on Facebook!
So…did you complete any challenges during August? Have you visited Lonna at FLYLēf yet? Have you enjoyed the extra blog and social media posts? Are you following us on social media? Let us know in the comments! |RL
