Theaters are being graced with some highly anticipated bookish movies with these upcoming March 2018 adaptations. There is something from almost every genre and for bibliophiles of all ages. Let’s #GetReelLit!
I Kill Giants – March 23
Synopsis: Barbara Thorson escapes her troubles from school and family life by retreating into her magical world of fighting evil giants. With the help of a new friend and her school counselor, Barbara learns to face her fears and battle the giants that threaten her world.The film is based on the limited comic series of the same name created by Joe Kelly and J. M. Ken Niimura.
The Leisure Seeker – March 9
Synopsis: Against the wishes of their children, an elderly couple takes an impromptu RV trip on Route 66 to live their twilight years on their own terms. The film is based on The Leisure Seeker by Michael Zadoorian.
Love, Simon – March 16
For seventeen-year-old Simon Spier, having a great love story is complicated because he hasn’t yet told his friends and family that he is gay, and he doesn’t know he identity of the classmate he’s fallen for online. Love, Simon was adapted from Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda written by Becky Albertalli.
Ready Player One – March 29
Synopsis: Wade Watts escapes the drudgery of everyday life in a virtual world called “The Oasis.” After the game’s founder dies and leaves his fortune as a grand prize to the player who finds the hidden easter egg. Ready Player One is based on the novel of the same name written by Ernie Cline.
Red Sparrow – March 22
Synopsis: Against her will, a Russian operative is ordered to become a “Sparrow,” a trained seductress, to work against a CIA agent. The movie is based on the book, Red Sparrow, by former CIA officer Jason Matthews.
A Wrinkle in Time – March 9
Synopsis: Meg Murray, along with a schoolmate and her younger brother, are aided by a trio of supernatural beings to find her father, a scientist who has been missing for years. The most anticipated of the March 2018 movies is based on the classic fantasy novel A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L’Engle.
