It’s the end of the month, and the end of the first half of 2018. Funny how time flies when you’re having fun, right?
Movies + Television
Even though I carry the cutest R2D2 purse with a C3PO wallet, I am by no means a die hard Star Wars fan. Yes, I have seen all the movies, but I know none of the lore, and I feel no need to learn. However, I was excited to see Solo: A Star Wars Story because of how pimpaliciously bawse Donald Glover looked in that fur coat.
I know the movie is considered a flop because it made 1.5 bazillion dollars when it was expected to make 2 bazzillion dollars, but I don’t get it because I thought the movie was GREAT! I laughed. I almost cried. I knew the surprise cameo, and I’m not talking about Lando rocking that Gordon Gartrell.
If you were on the fence about seeing Solo, I’m telling you to hop off that fence and get to a theater STAT!
Music + Podcasts
Ahh…Everything is Love is EVERYTHING for me right now! It’s blackness on fleek! It’s making me stan even harder for Beyoncé, which I didn’t even think was possible! It’s making me stop giving Jay-Z the hardest side eye! Man, I can’t wait to see The Carters doing their thing for OTR II. I’ve only listened to the Everything is Love a few times, so I have no hot takes, but so far, the songs that are currently giving me life are SUMMER, HEARD ABOUT US, NICE, BLACK EFFECT, and of course the banger of Summer ‘18, APESH!T because the flexin’, stuntin’ on these heauxs, baddest b!tch in the game Yoncé is my favorite Beyoncé. And that video tho!
Books + Blogs
Have you ever read a book that was kind of interesting and thought-provoking, but once you finished, you had absolutely nothing to say about it? This month, that book for me was All the President’s Men. However, I’m going to marinate on my thoughts on the book and the movie, and try to hamstring some words together. Look out for the review in upcoming months. Y’all know it’s going to be lit … reel lit!
So…was your June jammin’ on the one? Have you seen Solo yet? What’s the last book you read but didn’t review? Let us know in the comments! |RL
