Although The Enlightenment of Bees catfished us with that misleading title, we still found the book to be an enjoyable read. It was lighthearted and engaging from beginning to end, but the best part of the novel were these “bee”- utiful The Enlightenment of Bees quotes.
The Wisdom of Second Wave Feminism
The time I lived in … women didn’t do the things you can do now. I made the best of what was available to me, but my one regret was not doing more with my life–more freedom, more adventure. I want you to go on this trip not only for yourself–but also for me.
In a good relationship there’s room for both people to do what they love. Otherwise it’s not a great fit.
Full on Wanderlust
I’m filled with anticipation, almost a lust, to dive in, swim in the current of the world, drink deeply of the new and exotic and different. I am thirsty for adventure, for experiences, for a wider, wilder life.
IG vs IRL
I imagined the more colorful aspects of India, the postcard images, the novelty of it, the exotic beauty. But I was unprepared for its sheer overwhelming otherness, the myriad stares and unintelligible syllables of foreign language, the garbage and the strange odors and the press of thousands of people in a city bursting at the seams with humanity. I was unprepared for different when different doesn’t look like a magazine.
Silver Lining’s Playbook
I thought I could leave all the sorrow behind me, all the things I had seen … But we cannot escape our experiences … The memories are always with us, but sometimes we can ease the way for others. That is what we must do, use our pain to build understanding and empathy, no to build walls. Then it is transformed into a thing of beauty, then our suffering has value.
Inspired by an Unlikely Voice of Reason
If it took him this long to figure out he made a mistake, he’s either really dumb or he doesn’t really want you. Either way you don’t want to go down that road again.
Don’t let a man decide your life for you. Be the captain of your own ship.
… your place in this world is the space where your greatest passion meets the world’s great pain.
Almost anything can change the world if it’s done with love, if you use it to comfort, encourage, or strengthen someone.
