This post is inspired by the Top Ten Tuesday series developed by fellow book-loving bloggers, The Broke and the Bookish. If you’re a regular reader of the site (Hey ReelLites!!!), then you know most of the books we read have been around for a while because you can’t get reel lit without the reel. So…we tend not to be too concerned about new book releases unless we have a New Lit post like this one inspired by #DiversityBoost or this one in celebration of Women’s History Month. This brings us to our little twist on this week’s Top Ten Tuesday. Today, we are sharing the 10 movie-adapted books we most anticipate reading during the rest of 2017 and beyond! 1984 – George Orwell As we all know, 1984 is a classic that was probably on all of our high school reading lists. It was definitely on mine, but it’s been decades since I last cracked it open. “Lucky” for us, we live in a time where fact is becoming stranger than fiction. And the fantastical imagination has become the chilling …

THE REEL LIT LIVE BLOG OF GILMORE GIRLS: A YEAR IN THE LIFE

Yeah, I know it’s been over 3 months since Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life premiered on Netflix to the delight of Gilmore Girls fans around the world. Since I’ve been a fan of the show since it was a little-known show on The WB, you would think I would have been the first in line to get a new bump of the fix I’ve been needing for years. But I didn’t jump in immediately because I was afraid the magic wouldn’t be the same, or it wouldn’t be enough for me after waiting so long. I soon realized my fears were for naught because Sherman-Palladino gang would never let me down! So, I’m finally watching the show and sharing my immediate reactions. Grab your pizza, ice cream, Red Vines, pie, Pop-Tarts, Chinese takeout, tacos, tater tots, and coffee (of course!)…and let’s get this party started. COPPER BOOM! Winter Richard’s voice! How is it going to be without him and his wry humor? Oh Grandpa! That first “La, la la…” makes my heart jump for joy. Stars Hollow…It’s good to see you again old friend. I love seeing Lorelai in her cute pink coat. It’s been years y’all…Too many …

MY FAVORITE PODCASTS FROM BLACK VOICES

I am a huge fan of podcasts! I learn so much interesting and useful information, and I am always entertained. During the past year, I have made the effort to listen to more podcasts with black hosts. It’s often assumed that the majority of podcasters are white, but there are lots of people of color who are producing amazing content. Today, I’m sharing my favorite black podcasters. Another Round Another Round is a new show for me, and I’ve been loving it since the first listen. Heben and Tracy have such great chemistry, and I really missed that while Heben was away. Now the dynamic duo is back, and they are better than ever! One day, I hope to be famous enough to be a guest on the show. Tracy and Heben bring me black girl magic in every episode, and I want to be in on the action. Black Astronauts Podcast Network The Black Astronauts Podcast Network is another recent find thanks to TBGWT. I’m not sure if Rod or Karen mentioned the show or if the BAP crew were guests on the show. At this point it doesn’t matter because I have found another show that gives me …
