Diary Amy and Me

Diary Amy has an entry on my birthday, September 18th! In 2005, Amy and Nick reconnected and became an item…EASY, BREEZY, KISMET. I was enjoying a slice of tiramisu with my new roommates in a new city and starting a new phase in life…graduate school! Coincidence?!

T.P. as T.B.

Tyler Perry did a really good job as Tanner Bolt. It might be his best movie role ever, but I still see this guy as Tanner Bolt:

Is Love Blind?

“Can you imagine, finally showing your true self to your spouse, your soul mate, and having him not like you?” Amy is seriously dropping some truth bombs on why a lot of marriages probably end in divorce. Do we really know the person we are about to marry when we say “I Do!”? As an unmarried person, this is something that scares the crap out of me.

What She Said

“Isn’t that what every marriage is, anyway? Just a lengthy game of he-said, she-said?” Hey Married People! Is this really what marriage is? I will admit that I do think I could settle arguments with my guy if I had only recorded a previous conversation…but how do you know which conversations will need to be submitted as evidence is a future disagreement?!

Conditional Love

“I am supposed to love Nick despite all his shortcomings. And Nick is supposed to love me despite my quirks. But clearly, neither of us does. It makes me think that everyone is very wrong, that love should have many conditions. Love should require both partners to be their very best at all times.” Since it’s impossible to be at your very best all the time, does that mean that it is impossible to love your spouse unconditionally? Is “unconditional love” just a myth that we have to tell ourselves to enter into this institution called marriage?

Your Turn

So…What quotes or events stood out for you? Did you visualize specific actors playing characters in the book? Who did you imagine playing Tanner Bolt? Have you ever seen your birthday appear in a book you were reading? Has reading this book scared you away from getting married? Let us know in the comments! |RL
