What’s Worse?

“It’s funny thing about mothers and fathers. Even when their own child is the most disgusting little blister you could ever imagine, they still think that he or she is wonderful. Occasionally one comes across parents who take the opposite line, who show no interest at all in their children, and these of course are far worse than the doting ones.”

Educators, do you prefer the doting parents who think their kid can do no wrong or would you rather interact with the more aloof parents who could not care less about their children or how they’re performing in school? I think I would prefer the standoffish parent because they wouldn’t be as annoying as the helicopter parents.

Cheaters Always Prosper?

“No one ever got rich being honest.” Darn it! Well, looks like I needs to get to lying so I can retire early and start traveling the world.

Parents Just Don’t Understand

“She knew it was wrong to hate her parents like this but she was finding it very hard not to do so.”

It’s basically a right of passage for all kids to go through the phase of hating their parents, but that hatred usually doesn’t come until the teenage years when your parents just “don’t get you” and they “don’t know anything”. Hating your parents at such a young age is definitely out of the ordinary, but Matilda is definitely not your average kid. If anyone has a right to hate their parents, it’s Matilda. They have to be inducted into the Hall of Fame for Worst Parents Ever!!

Go Big or Go Home

“Never do anything by halves if you want to get away with it. Be outrageous. Go the whole hog. Make sure everything you do is so completely crazy it’s unbelievable.” Remember this the next time you are up to no good, and you want to HOPEFULLY get away with it. I will just warn you that you probably won’t get away with it, but good luck to you and may the odds be ever in your favor.

The Great Debate

“A girl should think about making herself look attractive so she can get a good husband later on. Looks is more important than books… A girl doesn’t get a man by being brainy.” WHAT?! You have to choose between being smart and being pretty?! Well, I did spend almost 20 years in school, and I currently don’t have a husband…so I guess Mrs. Wormwood has a point. I knew I should have spent more time flirting with boys and less time studying when I was in college. What was I thinking?! Hey girls! Please learn from my mistakes. Do not educate yourself and learn to be independent. Do whatever it takes to get and keep a man. Getting your MRS. degree is the only thing that it worth anything. BTDubs…those previous statements were made in jest. Whether you’re just smart, just pretty, smart and pretty, or none of the above, never put your worth in the hands of a man.

New School

“My idea of a perfect school, Miss Honey, is one that has no children in it at all. One of these days I shall start up a school like that. I think it will be very successful.” Now, this is the school that would get me into teaching. If anyone starts the Miss Trunchbull School NOT for Children, please hire me!

Your Turn

So…where do you stand on the looks versus books debate? Do you prefer over-involved or totally detached parents? Would you rather be rich or trustworthy? Do you want to teach in a school without children? Let us know in the comments! |RL
